Anthony DeSclafani was largely excellent Roy Halladay Jersey , too."The Joe Nuxhall Memorial Honorary Star of the GameJose Peraza just simply continues to hit the snot out of the ball. The Cincinnati Reds shortstop had yet another awesome offensive game on Tuesday against the Milwaukee Brewers, going 4 for 5 with a dinger, a pair of ribbies, and 3 runs scored, and continues to look like hes maturing into a legitimate force atop the Cincinnati lineup both for this year and for the future.Frankly, its one of the few positive developments the Reds have been able to enjoy while their injury-riddled lineup limps through the end of August, but its been one that just might prove to be vital to the rebuild going forward.Honorable Mentions are due to: ; Eugenio Suarez, who doubled, singled, walked twice, and scored; Scooter Gennett, who singled twice, tripled, walked, drove in a pair, and scored twice; and Billy Hamilton, who had a pair of singles, scored, and picked up his 12 OF assist of the season.Key PlaysThe Reds jumped on Junior Guerra immediately in the Bottom of the 1st. Hamilton got things going from the leadoff spot with a single , and he scored a batter later on Perazas 2-run blast into the LF seats. A single from Scooter then followed, as did a double by Suarez and a Phil Ervin walk. Tucker then jam-shot a single that somehow got through the infield to plate Scooter, and Suarez later scored on a wild pitch. Reds led, 4-0.Guerras struggled continued into the Bottom of the 2nd. Billy singled again, but was caught trying to swipe 2B, but the Cincinnati offense still managed to plate a pair in the inning. Peraza singled, Scooter singled to move him to 3B, and Guerra was then pulled after he walked Suarez to load the bases. Reliever Jordan Lyles didnt really fare much better, though, as he walked Scott Schebler with the bases loaded to force in a run before a productive Phlerv groundout scored another. Reds led, 6-0.Milwaukee finally got to Disco in the Top of the 4th, as Jesus Aguilar singled, Travis Shaw walked, and Ryan Braun singled to load the bags with just 1-out. Fortunately, though, Disco got a key K of Mike Moustakas, and while Erik Kratz slapped an RBI single into CF, Billys throw home nailed a second would-be run, as Shaw was out at home on a nifty tag by Tucker. Reds led Roberto Osuna Jersey , 6-1.Christian Yelich is an incredible baseball player that we here at Red Reporter dot com spent years pining for, only to see the Brewers actually pony up what it took to trade for him this last winter. Yelich smoked a Disco ball off the batters eye in the Top of the 6th, a solo homer that cut the Cincinnati lead to 6-2.Perazas single in the Bottom of the 6th began yet another flurry, as Suarez walked two batters later to put him into scoring position. That loomed large when Phlerv later singled into RF off reliever Matt Albers, which brought Jose around to score. Reds led, 7-2.Anthony DeSclafani continues to get mauled by Jim Rigglemans managerial decisions. After dominating the Brewers lineup for 6 IP, he was sent out for the Top of the 7th, allowed a single, retired a pair of batters, and then watched Hernan Perez smoke a double. At 98 pitches, the idea of letting him work his way out of a jam was apparently a danged foreign one, and Riggles turned to Jared Hughes, who has been hit hard lately. Of course, that turned into a walk to Lorenzo Cain before Yelich hit a meatball way the hell out over the LF fence, which made this would-be walkover a 7-6 game.Fortunately, the Cincinnati offense bounced right the heck back. Mason Williams singled off Albers to begin the inning, and he later moved up to 2B on another single by Peraza. That put both in position to score on Scooters triple into the RF corner off reliever Joakim Soria, which put the Reds ahead, 9-6. The Brewers managed to plate a run off Raisel Iglesias in the Top of the 9th as - you guessed it - a Yelich groundout plated a run , but that was fortunately all the damage done, and the Reds held on for a 9-7 W.Tony GraphaninoSource: FanGraphsOther NotesAnthony DeSclafanis final line was once again brutalized by inherited runners scoring, something that hes been bitten by more in the last few months than any pitcher I can remember. Its almost as if his ability to actually be efficient enough to get sent out for that extra half-inning only to be pulled immediately is more of a detriment than a positive, as Jim Riggleman just cannot figure out a way to manage out of a wet paper bag. Discos final line, therefore, after really pitching well for most of the night still looks meh without context: 6.2 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, BB, 6 K on 98 pitches. In case you havent picked this up, I cannot wait for the Reds managerial search to actually begin. Its the lone positive of this freaking baseball season ending.Reds minor leaguer Ibandel Isabels monster season has been nothing short of tremendous, and his pair of homers tonight have set the all-time single-season Florida State League record, as the Daytona Tortugas noted earlier on Twitter. Youll remember that the Reds landed him from the Los Angeles Dodgers farm in the trade that sent Ariel Hernandez the other way earlier this season.Matt Harvey will get a start on Wednesday against the team that claimed him just last week, which will be a bit of an interesting subplot for the second game of this series. Freddy Peralta will go for the Beers, with first pitch set for 7:10 PM ET.Tunes. However... they used to be. From 1956-65 the Red Sox trained at the original Scottsdale Stadium, before relocating their spring camp to Winter Haven, Florida, and in 1993 to Fort Myers, Florida. In fact, when the Red Sox left Arizona, after a one-year hiatus Scottsdale Stadium became the Cubs spring home from 1967-79, after which they moved to Mesa. (The Cubs also trained in Mesa from 1952-65.)At the top of this post is a photo from a Cubs/Red Sox spring training game March 12, 1961. Outfielder Al Heist was the Cubs baserunner thrown out trying to steal, thus belying his last name. The Red Sox infielder is Pete Runnels, who took a perfect throw from catcher Jim Pagliaroni. The umpire calling the play is John Rice.In the Tribune, Edward Prell recapped the Cubs 7-3 loss to Boston that day:A couple of things about that quote. 3,103 would have been considered a really good crowd for a spring game in 1961. Also, in that era ceremonial pitches were generally thrown from the box seats rather than the mound; the mound throws of ceremonial pitches didnt begin until (to my recollection) the late 1970s or early 1980s.I dont believe the Red Sox have played a game at an Arizona spring training facility since they departed the Cactus League 54 years ago.So welcome back, Red Sox. These teams played a pair of exhibition games at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Florida last March, with the Red Sox winning both games by 4-2 scores and last met in the regular season in April 2017 at Fenway Park with the Red Sox taking two of three.
